As most Government agencies are aware, there is a requirement to engage with treaty partners, but it is an area that can be fraught with ambiguity as to when, with whom, how and possibly most significantly, why?
Engagement with Māori is nothing to be feared. Yes, there are protocols around how engagement occurs and rituals that need to be adhered to, but learning the reasons behind these rituals and empathising with the Māori world view can pay significant dividends in terms of successful and open relationships with Māori.
This workshop is designed to help participants feel culturally safe when engaging with Māori and is for all policy and regulatory people wishing to improve how they engage with Treaty partners
