Qualifications

IMPORTANT UPDATE

G-REG recently made the decision to transition from Skills to Te Pūkenga – New Zealand Institute of Skills and Technology, as our provider for the regulatory practice qualification programmes (NZQA levels 3 – 6). This changeover will officially occur on 1 October 2022 and is aligned to the wider government Reform of Vocational Education (RoVE).

What is changing?
Skills has been the provider of the regulatory practice qualification programmes designed by G-REG and Skills, for the past seven years. During this journey G-REG and Skills have worked closely together to ensure our learners and the wider G-REG community received quality programmes, support, and information.

As part of the Reform of Vocational Education (RoVE) G-REG has decided to transition this operation from Skills to Te Pūkenga. While we are excited to embark on a new journey with Te Pūkenga, we want to acknowledge the significant role Skills has played within the G-REG community over the past seven years.

G-REG, Skills and Te Pūkenga have been working closely to ensure a seamless transition for our community of our resources, programmes, and support systems.

If you have any further questions between now and 1 October 2022, please contact your Skills Account Manager – they are best placed to help you. If you can’t get hold of them, please contact Skills Customer support team on 0508 754 557 or regcomp@skills.org.nz

About Te Pūkenga
Te Pūkenga was established in 2020 as a result of RoVE. Te Pūkenga is bringing together a national network of integrated learning that supports learners, employers and communities to gain the skills, knowledge, and capabilities Aotearoa New Zealand needs now and in the future.

What does this change mean for you?
During the transition you will still be able to register for all of our qualification programmes and receive personal assistance for any issues or queries.  The way the qualification programmes are delivered will remain the same. The only difference is that our training provider has changed.

The qualifications provide new foundations of understanding for every level of regulator, developed through consultation with over 20 government agencies. Individuals will also learn the wider context of their actions.

The Chair in Regulatory Practice, Prof. Jeroen van der Heijden, receives the New Zealand Certificate in Regulatory Compliance (Core Knowledge) (Level 3). Also present Tony McKenna, Skills and Debbie Despard, NZ Transport Agency.
